Generation Excel Grants
GooDeed Health Obesity Program
GooDeed's mission is to educate and provide fitness and wellness solutions to the under-served obese children of Los Angeles.
Our grant will allow them to start a new program for children and parents that stresses healthy eating.
Kidsworks
Kidsworks is a program of the Greater Lawrence (Massachusetts) Family Health Center.
It provides a multidisciplinary approach to empowering low-income, inner-city Latino children who are obese or overweight. Children gain entrance to this program through pediatrician referrals or through staff of school-based health centers. The program incorporates nutrition education for both kids and parents, with fitness programs.
Fitness Rules in the Weymouth Schools
This program, led by two physical therapists in the school system, will be implemented at the eight elementary schools in Weymouth, Massachusetts. The program will include: family education, weekly movement/exercise opportunities through the before & after school daycare programs at all eight elementary schools;
and the "Courageous Pacers" program - a walking & exercise program that allows students to chart their weekly mileage with families and classmates.
Generation Excel is proud to be affiliated with these programs, and hopes to help many more in the future.
